Drucquer-La Croix Marin #225-10831
Drucquer-La Croix Marin #225-10831
Usually, pipes made for local shops don’t command wide interest on the national market, although there are a few exceptions. The Drucquer-LaCroix series is one of those exceptions. Perhaps because it is understood that Robt. Rex, then owner of Drucquer’s, personally picked out the old, nearly forgotten old briar stasted by LaCroix in St. Claude, France. The “Marin” is one of the higher grades;’ good enough to have a smooth and not rusticated finish. The stem is original, with the Drucquer Lion on top of the stem. The drawback is the seriously diminished sharpness of the nomenclature. It is all there but buffed down to the point that one needs either good eyes (which I don’t have) or a magnifying glass (which I do have). The acrylic stem does have a small dent on the bottom and a touch of wear on the inner rim. It’s a Grp. 5 size.
6” long, bowl 1.75” tall. Weight: 1 5/8 oz., 47 grams.
