Viprati #21724-6731 *SOLD 2/23/24*
I don’t know what you call those symbols that Viprati apparently uses for his grading system. If I can remember, and he’s at this year’s (2024) Chicago show, I’ll ask him. But whatever they are (sort of Xs) he has 5 of them on this pipe, thanks, I’m sure, to the grain pattern, although the design is nice enough, too. Along with that is the excellent condition of the pipe, with a crisp chamber rim and a mark-free brindle stem. The draw is wide-open and the pipe gets an A+ on the cleaner test (although it failed the math portion of the exam. I failed it, too). What is the shank trim? Some kind of Antler? Don’t ask me. I once shot and killed a bird & immediately gave up hunting anything larger than a cockroach. BTW, I’ve been searching to see if I can find anything on his grading system, and while I’m sure it’s available, I can’t find the info. But, I did see one vendor advertising a Platinum grade (which this might have been had it been graded today), selling at 2200 Euros (approx. $2400) as a “must have.” Really? A must have. There are some nice pipes on this site, but none are a ‘must have.’ If I say stuff like that, do you think it might convince you, above, say, your wife’s wishes, to but the pipe, ‘cause if it will, I’ll try it. Otherwise, buy what you want. And for “musts,” please reserve that for food, shelter,. that kind of stuff.
