The straight grain all around this bowl is simply superior. I wonder what Ryan charged for this pipe when new. The condition is near-new, and the draw is open. With Freehands, it can be difficult to give a Grp. size, but this is probably a Grp. 7. In looking up Ryan on Pipedia I see that he acknowledges Horace Dejarnett as one of his mentors, but it’s rather obvious that Ryan surpassed Horace by quite a distance. This is a much more refined pipe than, say, the DeJarnett that is posted on this page.
