Dunhill Patent # Shell #21724-6665 *SOLD*

$265.00

The pipe is in fine condition; the rim is in great shape, the blast is vibrant it and even shows some branch wood, which is in the eyes of many, the best part of the burl, and the stem has one very shallow tooth mark on the bottom. It’s the damn nomenclature that is the pest here. You can read almost all the numbers of the patent, but not the date. But you can certainly see that it was made between 1944 & 1951. It’s also possible that the stem isn’t original as I’m not sure about the matrial comprising the dot…but if it isn’t original, I’d guess that it is a factory replacement. Why? Notice that the blast at the end of the stem…where almost all pipe makers have that smooth area where they match the stem diameter to the shank diameter, is not smooth, but blasted, as very, very few are able to do, Dunhill being one of those extremely rare exceptions. Grp. 5 with an open draw & with a twist of the cleaner, it passes that test.
5.3” long, bowl 1.8” tall. Weight: 1 3/8 oz., 39 grams.
