No digit after the “D” in “England” makes it difficult, if not impossible to date this more precisely than as was done above. The patent numbers are 1343253/20, and it is apparently not even certain that those numbers encompass only the years listed above. This pipe is in very good condition, especially considering its age. The stem button is a little buffed down from its orginal sharpness, but that’s to be expected. The rim is in remarkably good condition, although it’s possible that it was in very good condition and was given an upgrade with some renovation work on the rim. I can’t tell and the pipe’s shape and proportions look just fine. Clearly no major work was done to restore a badly worn pipe. Plus, most importantly, the inner chamber is in excellent condition, so it’s true that the pipe was not heavily smoked. It’s a Grp. 6 size, although not on the large side of 6. The draw is wide-open and a dry puff reveals that it housed Latakia, and no aromatics. The negative aspect is that the patent number is is buffed down significantly, to the point that a good lens is necessary to read the first few numbers. But they can be read…there is no question as to what they say. Used.
