Partridge Pair Meerschaum Cheroot Holder #62924-8265 *SOLD 7/2/24*
Of course I don’t know if these birds are Partridges, but I need to call them something, don’t I? Maybe they’re Pheasants. That sounds a little better. Aren’t Partridges pretty small? This an old, Austrian-made meerschaum and while the figurals aren’t quite pristine, there is very little visible damage to the birds and their environs. The rim and chamber of the pipe is in exc. cond., but the stem is clearly a replacement vulcanite, where quite likely an amber stem used to be. The case is certainly original, and old, but the lining is intact, not ripped, and that’s a good thing in such an old pipe and case. The clasp works fine but the leather covering of the case is worn, but again, not ripped or torn. Since it’s easier for me to give you the dimensions of the case than the pipe itself, that’s what I’m going to do. And the weight will also reflect the entire weight of the pipe and case.
5.5” long, case 2.85” tall. Weight: 1 7/8 oz., 52 grams.
