Just when George Orwell predicted everything would go to hell, “1984,” this pipe was made, proving Orwell didn’t know everything. Of all the Radice pipes I’ve seen, and remember I went to their workshop for some years, going through everything they made to help David Field decide what to import, I’ve never seen one with nomenclature and logo like this piece. It is that rare, and thus comes in its own casket, unlike us, who ‘go’ in our own caskets.
Along with the year of production, it comes with Luigi Radice’s signature on the bottom of the shank and the letters FFU with a 3 ina circle on the side of the shank. The white logo on the acrylic stem is also completely different than their normal stem logo. Is it a dot or circle in a crescent? What does it mean? Grp. 7 or larger in size with a span of 2.8” across the top of the bowl. The draw is wide-open.
