Could this be Paolo’s masterpiece? Yes, it could and he has made so many marvelous pipes that to even think in those terms says a lot. The unrelenting cross grain and Bird’s Eye up and down this large, tall bowl is just so eye catching, almost mesmerizing. Also difficult is describing its size. I can hardly give a meaningful figure regarding the pipe’s length because it is a full bent and has almost no length to give; and the height of the bowl is equally hard to properly describe because of the curve of the bowl. Is it a Grp. 8? Maybe. In the photo you will see walls that are so thick that the chamber looks small. it isn’t. I can fit my thumb into it. And the construction is so good that the draw is wide-open. The stem material is vulcanite. Happily, this gorgeous, unique pipe is new.
