This is a sweet little pipe, and it’s pure Barbi. It has straight grain all around the bowl, and better than that, it’s made from one of Rainer’s favorite briars, Ligurian briar. How do I know? Because you can see the darkening between the hygroscopic, wide-spaced grain. Few studied briar the way Barbi did, and he was always willing to impart his knowledge and when he spoke, I listened. It is a Grp. 4 in size and if you don’t like Latakia ghosting, this is not the pipe for you. It also has a 9mm capacity tenon. That shouldn’t deter you, but that’s my take on it. The condition is excellent. Used.
