Bertram Safferling #112123-6547TC *SOLD 2/24/24*

$350.00

Bertram, much like Baldo Baldi, worked with hand tools and the minimum of electronic equipment. He originated in Stuttgart, which is where David Field and I first met him and brought him into our little stable of pipe makers that we imported and exclusively distributed in the U.S. He was a slow and deliberate pipe maker, so there were never a lot of his pipes to put in the marketplace. That is why this unsmoked gem is such a fine and rare find. It’s not bad, either, that it has such fine straight grain all around the bowl. There is a ‘2’ stamped on the bowl bottom, which may indicate grade. I can’t recall if he graded his pipes. The pipe is fairly large, a Grp. 6 size, and the draw is open. True to the old-time purist mentality of Bertram, the stem is vulcanite. It’s unsmoked, so condition is not an issue. New.
7” long, bowl 2.2” tall. Weight: 2.5 oz., 70 grams.
