With the B grade on Upshall, we're getting into somewhat rarefied air. What I like even better about this particular B is that rather than it being an all-too-common straight grain (how haughty I'm getting these days...dismissing straight grains as common) this pipe earned that grade with cross grain and Bird's Eye. That's something you can brag to your friends about. So yes, the cross grain is situated at the front and back of the bowl and up and down the long shank. The condition of the pipe is excellent, with no marks on the vulcanite stem. The bowl is large, a Grp. 6 size and the shank itself is 3.9" long.
