Peterson's Killarney...Pre-Republic # 11125-10096
Rather than calling it Peterson’s Killarney (as I believe has been done for many decades now), this is titled “Killarney” on one side of the shank and “Peterson’s” (sic) Product on the other side, with “Made in Ireland” also stamped on that side. Much of the nomenclature is worn down and requires good vision. The word “Product” is mostly worn down and off, so I’m really guessing a little as to its exact existence. The “Killarney” is all there, as is the “Peterson’s” and the “Made in Ireland.” No problem in reading any of that. Better yet, the condition of this old pipe is excellent in all other respects. The rim is in very good shape and the stem, almost assuredly original, is without any teeth marks. It’s small…a Grp. 3 size. The draw is open. The pipe has excellently placed cross grain and if it has a fill (as today’s Killarney certainly would) I can’t find it. Maybe it wasn’t designated as a full Peterson because of its size. Maybe things were different then.
6” long, bowl 1.55” tall. Weight: 7/8 oz., 25 grams.
