James Upshall P #9424-9304 *SOLD 9/14/24*

$125.00

Many of the pipes from this collection were large. You'll see a fair number of Upshalls and Charatans, and some Ashtons. I guess he liked English pipes, not including Dunhills. This one is indeed large, with a chamber diameter at the rim of just over 1". I'd call the bowl a Grp. 7 in size. The condition is excellent with no wear on the inner chamber rim, no marks on the stem, a fully intact stem logo ("JU") and a chamber that looks barely used. The original band is sterling and it easily passes the cleaner test, although you're going to need a churchwarden-long cleaner to prove it.
7.75" long, bowl 2.4" tall. Weight: 2 7/8 oz., 81 grams.
