James Upshall P #32124-2780

$80.00

As a piece of briar, this pipe has all the advantages of the best of the Upshalls, meaning old briar (no doubt from the Charatan factory, the ashes of which gave birth to this and at least two other fine English brands) and great grain and fine classic craftsmanship. (Notice how the promotional BS just flows from the fingertips.). But, as a collectible, it has a few drawbacks which will keep the price low but not impact the smoking quality of the pipe in any measurable way (nor in any unmeasurable way, one truly hopes). You will see in the top-down photo a bit of black on the outside part of the rim. That has nothing to do with burning in the chamber, but rather some clumsiness on the part of the last owner. The other drawback is the replacement stem, acrylic in this case. Please take care of your pipes fellows because when I buy them for pennies on the dollar from your widows, I do not want damaged goods. OK? It’s a Grp. 6 in size, the draw is wide-open and the replacement stem is mark-free. The chamber is in great shape. BTW, I will always try to mention if a pipe has been smoked with an aromatic tobacco as I know many of you, and me, avoid that egregious impact. Unless I’m short of cash, in which I case I will “forget” to mention it and you should then ask because I find it harder to lie face-to-face, so to speak. (Unless I really, really need the money. I think I’m solvent as I type this, FYI.)
6.25” long, bowl 1.9” tall. Weight: 2 oz., 56 grams
