Comoy's Prima #21724-7094
Comoy's Prima #21724-7094
This is quite an old Comoy’s. If the hallmarkings on the silver band weren’t worn down, I could discern the year, but that’s not possible. Another clue is the nomenclature, which says, besides “Prima” “Stearn Co., N.Y. Well, the Stearn bros. opened their first store in something like 1868 according to what I could find on the internet. As to when the name was retired, I can’t say as the department store was apparently bought by others and thus the name was kept alive for a number of years. That there is no “Made in London” stamping might be another clue as to age. Although the silver band is original (it has the H.C. on it…House of Comoy) the stem might well be replacement. For sure there’s no “C” logo on the stem. The condition of the pipe is decent. There is wear on the rim, but nothing drastic and the chamber is in very good shape. The draw is open. Group 4 size.
