The briar is in good condition, with just a little wear on the inner rim. The stem is original, with a visible, old “CP” on the stem, although the white has been buffed off. There is also a discernible “L” on the shank, but again, you’ll have to look hard to see it. That is the problem with the pipe…the cosmetics and more specifically, the nomenclature. It is buffed down considerably and much of it is hard to see, although with scrutiny, you’ll find it all. The vulcanite stem also has some teeth marks, but they’re not where you’d expect, but much further up the stem towards the shank, as though the smoker shoved the stem far back into his mouth. They’re not deep indents and don’t threaten the integrity of the stem. Grp. 5.
