Dunhill and Charatan competed for decades as the two top (read: most expensive) of the English pipe makers. Perhaps one way to characterize the difference was that the Charatan fans preferred extra large, super-solid pipes. This is one of those. There are larger Charatans (this qualifies as a Grp. 7) but hardly any can claim to be more solid. The damn thing is over 3 oz., It's also one of their straight grains, above the Distinction and Executive in terms of grain quality, and in excellent condition. The "CP" stem logo is fully legible, but the white has been lost. It does have the Lane "L." The draw is open.
