2003 Dunhill Ring Grain #8124-9163. *SOLD*

$225.00

Back when I was a very novice pipe hobbyist, and learning at the feet of such knowledgeable people as Fred Janusek, occasionally, a Dunhill Shell would crop up with superb ring grain and a lot was made of it by the collectors. Dunhill, however, did not mark these pipe with a special designation, and to the very best of my memory, they were not any more expensive than any other Shell of the same size. Somewhere along the way, Dunhill figured out that the ring grain blasts were more desirable than normal blasts (although old Dunhill Shells often had marvelous 'character' blasts, the likes of which we rarely see today) and now command a premium. This pipe is obviously one of those and is designated "Ring Grain" on the shank bottom. This is a Grp. 4, shape # 4106, and in excellent condition with no marks on the stem and no burns on the rim.
5.3" long, bowl 1.7" tall. Weight: 1.25 oz., 35 grams.
