Actually, the nomenclature is buffed way down, and the least readable aspect is the date, so it might be 1986, but if I err, it’s on the conservative side; regardless, it’s an early Ashton. The rest of the nomenclature is all legible, but, again, buffed down so that it is not at all ‘crisp.’ The rest of the condition of the pipe is good. The inner rim is without wear and round, the blast is still prominent (with interesting grain) but the stem is replacement, so no Ashton logo exists. The replacement vulcanite stem has a small tooth mark on the bottom (barely an indent) and the draw is wide-open.
