The stem is a new replacement, but it's done with such a good dot, as opposed to so many sloppy, indifferent jobs, that it definitely does not detract from the attractiveness of the pipe, or its authentic look. (It does, of course, detract from the price I can get for it.) It also calls itself, according to the nomenclature, a Grp. 4 in size. Hardly. I'll grant it a Grp. 3, but not by much. The condition is very good, with just a touch of wear on the inner rim. The nomenclature is all intact and the draw is wide-open. For a Root, it has a good grain pattern, cross grain.
