1922 Dunhill Shell #223-10532
1922 Dunhill Shell #223-10532
Actually, I’m not certain that it’s a 1922 pipe…it might be a 1925 or a 1923 piece. The patent number, which is clear enough, indicates beyond doubt that it’s a 20s piece, but the number after the ‘d’ in England is blurry. Not because of buffing down, but, it seems to me, because of a rough stamping originally. I think it’s a ‘2’ but maybe not. While the nomenclature is no longer crisp, it is all legible (with “Dunhill” being the least sharp word in that nomenclature). The round stem button announces a between-the-wars pipe. The size is small…Grp. 3. There is one shallow tooth dent on the bottom of the stem. The chamber is in excellent condition and if the blast has been worn down any, it’s not noticeable.
4.9” long, bowl 1.55” tall. Weight: 7/8 oz., 25 grams.
