In every way this is a particularly fine specimen and it's surprising that it hasn't been given a 'straight grain' designation; not because of the amount of straight grain, it has none, but because of the superb cross grain and Bird's Eye. In later years, the Larsens began to understand (although I think they always understood) that a good cross grain was almost as desirable as a straight grain. In fact, if memory serves, they even began marking such pipes as "Bird's Eye" much as Castello designates their Occhio di Pernice pipes as a separate high grade. This piece is in near-new condition with a wide-open draw and a free pass for the pipe cleaner. It's a Grp. 6 size.
