It was so good to see both Martin (Vollmer) & Anders (Nilsson) after so many years of enforced absenteeism. And just as good was the opportunity to buy a few pipes from them. Of course, they devote the greater part of the show (the Chicago show in this case) to selling directly to the retail customer, but towards the end, I’m allowed to pick a few pipes, which they sell at wholesale. I’m always thrilled at the opportunity, and there are always terrific pipes available because who has a better eye than me? This sandblast is unusual, I think, because I don’t recall very many, if any, long shanked pipes coming from their studio. It’s a Grp. 5 size, with a wide-open draw and, happily, an uncoated chamber. Inc ase the photo is not sharp enough, it’s a brindle stem. New.
