When all is said and done (hard as it may be to determine when, exactly, that time is nigh) is there a pipe more calming, more, well, just plain right, than a simple, well crafted black, sandblasted Billiard? And when that pipe was made by Messrs. Vollmer & Nillson, isn’t the satisfaction that much the greater? Picking up a pipe like this, loading it with good tobacco and giving it a long, truly igniting light sets you on top of life. It can’t get much better.
As to the particulars, this is a smallish Grp. 4 with a wide-open draw and what I think is a vulcanite stem. I’m going to have to write them and find out for sure.
