Tom Eltang Harpoon Snail #81723-4735PC
The exceptional skill exhibited in making this pipe is not just the perfect placement on the cross grain and Bird’s Eye (no easy feat, at all) but in managing to come up with the perfect shape to capture that grain when it curves on the block. Tom, with his years of experience, and intelligence, came up with the Harpoon, allowing him to mimic a fish and two, curved tail fins, which enabled him to make use of more of that cross grain and fit it perfectly onto the shape of the pipe. Then, of course, is the stunning Bird’s Eye, which takes up the front and back of the bowl, with pure cross grain on the rim. Wow! It’s a Grp. 6 in size, I suppose, maybe larger. The draw is open and a cleaner (although you’ll need a. long one) goes right to the chamber bottom. The pipe is unsmoked, so condition is not a factor. New.
8” long, bowl (including ‘legs’) 4.4” tall. Weight: 2 1/8 oz., 62 grams
