Peter Stokkebye G #101-9687 *SOLD 10/18/24 XL*

$235.00

The high grade Peter Stokkebye pipes were made by Jørgen Larsen. I've said before, and have no reason to back off this contention, that he is one of the 3 best pure pipe makers ever. What do I mean? First of all, he insisted on form following function. He would not sacrifice smoking quality for aesthetic beauty. This does not mean his pipes aren't beautiful...they certainly are. But first, smoking quality. After that is established (by wood quality & construction) only then can shaping be considered. You are not likely to see some bizarre shape come from Jørgen's immaculate (you could eat off the floor, or, if you're qualified, perform a surgical operation in it) workshop. The G grade is about in the middle of his grading system. Sometimes it went from A up to what, M? Other times it went the other way around. (Kind of like the old joke, what's the difference between Communism and Capitalism? In Communism, man exploits his fellow man; in Capitalism it's the other way around.) So, either way, this is one of his middle grained pieces, which means it's superb. The condition is excellent, the draw is wide-open, it easily passes the cleaner test and has a vulcanite stem. Grp. 6 size.
6" long, bowl 1.8" tall. Weight: 2 3/8 oz., 66 grams.
