As much favor as has been shown in Peter’s pipes, I don’t recall seeing many (any?) with much straight grain. Actually, even getting smooth pipes out of him was not easy. This one exhibits a lot of straight grain pretty much all around, with one area where the straight grain doesn’t go all the way from top of the bowl to the bottom. But it still has straight grain. So, yes, the rim is all Bird’s eye. It’s a short pipe, but the bowl and chamber are ea sily Grp. 4 and maybe a bit larger. The flat bottom allows it to sit up (but not beg) and the is vulcanite, with a wide-open draw and an A+ on the cleaner test. New.
