Bjarne Nielsen Signature D #225-10797*SOLD 3/20/25*

$115.00

After many years of having the pipe makers he contracted produce the best value pipes being made (at least in my opinion) Bjarne included some of the finest pipe makers, like Phil Vigen, in his stable and started producing his signature series. These pipes have the Bjarne Nielsen name on them and not that of the pipe maker, but Bjarne made no secret of the fact that he stopped making pipes years back, leaving the craft to those best able to do that job, and keeping hold of the business side himself. He loved the U.S. and would come at least twice each year to visit his old clients and friends, holding trunk shows with his wares in the various shops. There was nobody who didn’t like Bjarne. This one is an awfully handsome, charming even. It’s short, but the bowl is at least a good Grp. 4 size, and possibly Grp. 5. The condition is excellent and the draw wide-open. The stem is ebonite and mark-free. If memory serves, his grades started at something like M and worked up, eventually, to A ++. Thus, this D grade is high on his list.
4.7” long, bowl 1.7” tall. Weight: 1 3/8 oz., 38 grams.
