Bari Amber #8124-8765 *SOLD 8/2/24*

$50.00

Before the master Danish carvers began demanding (and rightfully getting) high prices for their craftwork, a few of the slightly lesser Danish pipes, with small factories, ruled, in my opinion, the “best value in pipes” market. A bunch of the brands took turns claiming that title, with Stanwell, Kriswell, Jarl, Bjarne and Bari those I remember off the top. I may have gotten them all or maybe I’m missing one or two., Anyhow, this Bari is an example of the time that Bari held that distinction. If you can find a Bari Senior, hold on to it. Of course, you won’t find one from me…I’ll be holding on to it, just as I have to the one that’s been in my pipe cabinet for many decades. Anyhow, this is from that era and perhaps 1 level down in grade from the “Senior.” I don’t see any fills, although at the price, who cares. Certainly not the Danes, who are not averse to putting a little putty into a fill regardless of the destined sale price. Put the Swedes into that category, too. This pipe is in very good condition, with no marks on the vulcanite stem and the merest touch of wear, barely visible, on the chamber’s inner rim. The draw is wide-open.
6” long, bowl 2” tall. Weight: 1 3/8 oz., 38 grams.
